Joint Base Andrews, located in Prince George’s County, Maryland, is one of the most high-profile military installations in the United States. Originally opened in 1943 as Camp Springs Army Air Field, it was renamed Andrews Field later that year in honor of Lt. Gen. Frank M. Andrews. In 2009, it was merged with Naval Air Facility Washington to form Joint Base Andrews under DoD’s Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) initiative.

Today, the base is best known as the home of Air Force One and the 89th Airlift Wing, which provides airlift support for the President, Vice President, and senior government officials. JBA is also home to the 316th Wing, 113th Wing (DC Air National Guard), and elements of the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps, making it a true joint-service installation.
