Buckley Space Force Base, located in Aurora, Colorado, is a joint installation hosted by the U.S. Space Force. As the home of Space Base Delta 2 (SBD 2), its primary mission focuses on global missile warning, space surveillance, and developing future operational capabilities, primarily through the Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS). Originally established as Buckley Field in 1942, the base now supports a diverse array of mission partners, including the Colorado Air National Guard’s 140th Wing (flying F-16s), the Navy Reserve Center Denver, the Army Aviation Support Facility, the Marine Air Control Squadron 23, and the National Reconnaissance Office’s Aerospace Data Facility-Colorado. Buckley SFB provides critical installation support and services for readiness across all branches, serving the large military population in the Denver metropolitan area.
