Base Overview

The global hub of U.S. Air Force Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) operations, located near Indian Springs, Nevada.
Creech Air Force Base, situated in the Mojave Desert near Indian Springs, Nevada, approximately 45 miles northwest of Las Vegas, serves as the epicenter for the U.S. Air Force’s global Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) enterprise. While its history dates back to World War II airfield operations, Creech AFB officially received its current designation in 2005 and has since become synonymous with cutting-edge RPA missions, including intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and kinetic strike capabilities.

The base is home to the 432nd Wing and the 432nd Air Expeditionary Wing (432 WG/432 AEW), often referred to as the “Hunters.” These units are responsible for training RPA crews and conducting 24/7 combat operations worldwide using primarily the MQ-9 Reaper aircraft, along with other advanced platforms like the RQ-170 Sentinel. Personnel assigned to Creech AFB execute persistent ISR and strike missions vital to national security, requiring a high operational tempo and unique skill sets.

Due to its specialized mission and relatively remote location, Creech AFB relies significantly on nearby Nellis Air Force Base and the infrastructure of Las Vegas for comprehensive support services. This includes major medical care, large retail facilities (Commissary/BX), and most family housing options. Military families assigned to Creech typically reside in Northwest Las Vegas communities or utilize Nellis AFB housing, navigating a considerable commute along US Highway 95.

Despite the commute and operational demands, Creech AFB fosters a strong sense of community among its personnel, united by their critical mission. The base continues to evolve, enhancing its on-site support infrastructure while maintaining its crucial role in providing persistent eyes and lethal overwatch for combatant commanders across the globe, solidifying its position at the forefront of modern air warfare.
