Joint Base Langley-Eustis (JBLE) – Langley, located in Hampton, Virginia, is a cornerstone of American airpower and one of the oldest continuously active Air Force installations in the United States. As the Air Force component of JBLE, Langley’s primary focus is ensuring air superiority and providing combat-ready forces worldwide. Its strategic location in the Hampton Roads region offers access to extensive training airspace over the Atlantic Ocean and proximity to numerous other military and government installations.

Langley Field is proudly home to the headquarters of Air Combat Command (HQ ACC), the lead command responsible for organizing, training, and equipping the majority of the Air Force’s combat forces. This major command’s presence makes Langley the nerve center for combat airpower decisions and policies. The base’s premier operational unit is the 1st Fighter Wing, which flies the F-22 Raptor, the world’s most advanced air dominance fighter. In a Total Force Integration partnership, they work alongside the Virginia Air National Guard’s 192d Wing, also flying and maintaining the F-22.

The host unit for the entire joint base, the 633d Air Base Wing, is headquartered at Langley and provides installation support for both the Air Force and Army components of JBLE. Other key units at Langley include the 480th Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Wing, which provides critical ISR support to combatant commanders globally. The base’s rich history, from early aviation experiments to modern stealth fighter operations, is evident across the installation.

Military members and their families stationed at JBLE-Langley are immersed in the historically significant and recreationally diverse Hampton Roads area. The region offers access to beaches, historical sites like Colonial Williamsburg and Yorktown, and major metropolitan amenities.
