Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH), located on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, adjacent to Honolulu, is a pivotal strategic installation for the United States in the Indo-Pacific region. Formed in 2010 by the merger of the historic Hickam Air Force Base and Naval Station Pearl Harbor, JBPHH is a premier joint operating base, projecting both air and sea power across the vast Pacific theater. The Air Force component, often referred to as JBER-Hickam or simply Hickam, is anchored by the 15th Wing (15 WG) of Pacific Air Forces (PACAF). The 15th Wing operates and maintains F-22 Raptor stealth fighters for air superiority and C-17 Globemaster III aircraft for strategic airlift. Hickam is also home to Headquarters Pacific Air Forces, which commands Air Force operations across the region. The Hawaii Air National Guard’s 154th Wing, the largest ANG wing in the nation, is a critical partner, flying F-22s, C-17s, and KC-135 Stratotankers alongside active duty counterparts.

The naval component, JBER-Pearl Harbor, hosts the U.S. Pacific Fleet headquarters (COMPACFLT) and is homeport for numerous destroyers, submarines, and support ships. The joint base structure, led by a Navy installation commander supported by an Air Force deputy, ensures seamless support for both Air Force and Navy missions, enhancing operational readiness and efficiency in this critical geostrategic location.
