Hill Air Force Base

Hill Air Force Base, strategically positioned in northern Utah along the scenic Wasatch Front between the cities of Ogden and Salt Lake City, is a cornerstone of Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) and a vital contributor to national defense. As Utah’s largest single-site employer, Hill AFB boasts a diverse mission set encompassing depot-level maintenance, cutting-edge fighter operations, and management of the nation’s intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) force. The host unit, the 75th Air Base Wing (75 ABW), provides essential installation support for a wide array of organizations, including the massive Ogden Air Logistics Complex (OO-ALC). The OO-ALC is one of the Air Force’s premier depot maintenance facilities, responsible for performing in-depth repair, overhaul, and modification of aircraft like the F-35, F-16, A-10, and C-130, as well as landing gear, and various systems and components. This industrial complex is critical for sustaining Air Force readiness worldwide.

Hill AFB is also home to elite combat airpower. The active duty 388th Fighter Wing and the Air Force Reserve Command’s 419th Fighter Wing fly and maintain the F-35A Lightning II, the Air Force’s most advanced multirole fighter. These wings work in a Total Force Integration construct, ensuring combat-ready F-35A squadrons are available for global deployment. Additionally, Hill AFB plays a crucial role in strategic deterrence through the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center’s ICBM Systems Directorate, which is responsible for the sustainment of the Minuteman III ICBM.
