March Air Reserve Base, located in the heart of Southern California’s Inland Empire near Riverside and Moreno Valley, is a historic and strategically vital installation. With a legacy dating back to 1918, March ARB has evolved into a key hub for strategic airlift and aerial refueling, while also serving as a joint-use base hosting units from every branch of the U.S. military. The base is a critical component of Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC), providing combat-ready forces for global operations.

The host unit, the 452nd Air Mobility Wing, is the largest wing in the Air Force Reserve by population. The wing’s mission is to provide global reach and power, operating a fleet of C-17 Globemaster III strategic airlifters and KC-135R Stratotanker aerial refuelers. The citizen Airmen of the 452nd AMW maintain a high level of readiness to support worldwide contingencies, humanitarian relief efforts, and strategic air mobility requirements.

March ARB is a true joint environment, hosting a diverse array of tenant units. These include the California Air National Guard’s 163d Attack Wing, which operates the MQ-9 Reaper remotely piloted aircraft; the Defense Media Center; and numerous reserve units from the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps.
